Cat food for kittens and Adults
It is a very frequent question from majority of cat owners that which food
is best for kittens and which for adult?
Generally there is a very little difference between kitten and adult
food. But don’t give your kitten, the cat food, until they reaches 1 year of age.
Although cat food will not harmful for your kitten but it will not provide the
basic nutrients in adequate amount which is necessary for your kitten till 1
year of age, because it is the growing period of your kitten.
Your kitten is the lovely
creatures and requires more percentage of nutrients in their food such as
protein, minerals, carbohydrates and fats to grow up to an active and healthy adult
as compared to adult food. Kittens need to feed after every 3 to 4 hours but
when they become 1 year old it will only need 2 meals a day, but it must be full
of nutrients and healthy meal.
If you go to purchase a kitten food, you will realize that there is no
special product labeled as “Kitten Food”, because kitten and adult food are
almost same but kitten need more percentage of nutrients. When your kitty is of
7 to 8 months old, switch its food from kitten level to adult level. But
gradually switch the amount of food, so that it does not disturb your kitten stomach
and also must be properly absorb able for it. For the 1st week add
25% of cat food and 75% kitten food in your kitten’s bowl , in the 2nd
week add 50% of cat food and 50% of kitten food, in the 3rd week add 75% cat food and 25% kitten food and then at 4th week switch it to
100% of cat food.
Cat food contains all the necessary nutrients needed for adults, both
dry and wet food is good for your cat. Food requirements also depend upon the
cat size, type and age. But if your cat wants to eat the kitten food then it
will not harm your cat. So, take care of your cat and feed it properly
according its requirements.
