Wet or Dry food? Which is the best choice for your cat?

Cats are lovely and fascinating creatures and selection of best food for your cat is most challenging now-a-days due to availability of variety of cat foods in market. The essential requirement is that whichever food you give to your cat it should be nutritious. Cats have their own preferences, choices and nutritional needs. So, selection of best food for your cat mostly depends on the following factors:

1. Cat’s mood and interest that which food prefers your cat the most.

2. Cat’s age (kitten, adult, and senior), size and body condition (overweight or underweight).

3. Cats health conditions whether it has any disease or not.

4. Your budget i.e.; which food you can afford easily.

Cats are carnivores and their protein requirements are exactly the same as humans and others omnivores do. Proteins, fats and carbohydrates must be in proper proportion in your cat food. A variety of pet foods are available in market now, and for the convenience of pet owners these pet food are available into three categories; grocery store food, premium food, healthy food.

1.Grocery store food is usually cheaper and don not provide your cat the nutrient rich ingredients and healthiest food. These are available on grocery stores. But my suggestion is that you should avoid giving your cat these types of foods.

2.Premium food is another one, this is rich in nutrients but also contain some artificial flavors and colors .you can get this food from any grocery stores, veterinarian office or markets. Although these contain high quality ingredients but are expensive as compared to grocery store food.

3.Healthiest food is third one, and in true sense these are high quality healthiest and rich in nutrients. This is formulated to meet all the necessary requirements of your cat food. And real meat, fish, rice, barley etc are used in this formula to make it healthy food. Although it is much expensive but it makes your cat healthy and active.

Now if we discuss that whether wet, dry or raw food is best for cat, then it totally depends on your cat, that which type of food your cat likes the most. Some cats like dry food, some wet food, others like raw food and some like the mixture of both wet and dry food. I think wet food is the best choice for your cats because it also provides the necessary water requirements to cat. Dry cat food contains very less amount of water and it may causes dehydration and many other problems. So be careful while the selection of your cat food. When you go to market to purchase cat food, list of ingredients on the back side of packet can be very helpful for you. Products that do not use the words “100% nutritious” or “Complete and Balanced diet” can only be used as supplements and only the former can fulfill your cat’s needs.

So, make a wise decision while selection of your cat’s food because it will make your cat healthy, active and full of life. And when you are sure that your cat food is a best selection ever, then also check your cat’s healthy after every month.
